The launch of the campaign “Your Eyes in Your Health” during Ramadan in Jeddah’s Mosques
The Directorate of Health Affairs in Jeddah, represented by the Department of Public Health, and with the participation of Sagaf Eye Center Center for Ophthalmology and Mabreh Ismail Abu Dawood Charity Foundation, will carry out the activities of the “Your Eyes in your health” free and major campaign, which will be held during the period from 1 to 20 of the holy month of Ramadan In Jeddah, in coordination with the Department of mosques and advocacy and guidance in the province.
The aim of this campaign is to identify eye diseases and the importance of maintaining vision to prevent blindness, in addition to free eye detection and examination, random glucose measurement, pressure measurement and mass weight calculation by specialized medical staff. In the mosques scheduled throughout the campaign days in the holy month.
Dr. Faisal Al-Juhani, Coordinator of the National Program for Obesity Control, Coordinator of the Balanced Nutrition Program, Physical Activity in Jeddah Health, and the representative of the Department of Health Programs and Chronic Diseases in the campaign, said that the launch of these activities came after the approval of Prince Mish’al bin Majid, Governor of Jeddah. And the importance of early detection of diseases of pressure and diabetes and obesity and the definition of eye diseases and the importance of maintaining vision to prevent blindness, and this comes within the vision of the Kingdom 2030.
He stressed that the campaign targets citizens and residents alike, including the elderly and children, where the participants are seeking to raise the awareness of the health of the people of the province.
Dr. Hussain Al-Saqqaf, Medical Director of the campaign, stressed the urgent need for such mobile clinics in 20 mosques, which will be aware of the causes of eye diseases, which means avoiding the causes of blindness and reducing the rise of people with visual disabilities in the future. Worked on the basis of social responsibility and belief in the role that can be provided in the detection of cases of visual impairment free of charge, where the Center ensures this clinic and free disclosure and treatment of cases detected without those able to treatment within the programs of the Center for charity to fight blindness.
He pointed out the importance of detection of the eyes in light of the proliferation of large cases of white water and blue water and retinal disorders and retinal bleeding, in addition to the age and lazy eyes of children. The medical campaign also seeks to expedite the provision of health services to citizens, especially some cases requiring urgent eye surgery.
